Hi everyone! 👋
After a nice weekend, I wanted to bring up a more personal topic. I’d like to talk about the emotional side of hosting. We usually focus on practical hosting topics, but I’d love to hear more about your experiences as hosts. 🤗
How did you feel when you got your first booking? What was your reaction when you saw your first listing live, after all the effort and time you invested? I'm sure , while it must have been nerve wracking as a first time host, it must have been an exciting experience at the same time. 😉 ✨
Let us know how it was for you, I’m looking forward to reading your stories.
Best,
Alex

It felt great, but it was a shock. We had just about finished making the property what we wanted it to be and decided it was time to list it. We did, and in less than a day we had our first request. Wow! From then and to the end of the year we were booked solid for every weekend and holiday. But, being new to this, we knew we had our hands full and we were still in learning mode. All in all, it all worked out, we learned fast, and we have enjoyed (for the most part) having guests that appreciated what we did to make it great!

Hi @Mark5779!
Wow! That’s such a great start! If guests liked your listing from the very beginning, it means you did an amazing job. How did you manage to handle all the bookings as new hosts? 🏡
Thanks @Alex ! I used to be a Project Manager in a past life, so I just went with what I know how to do -- manage with a calendar and blood, sweat, and tears... LOL We just made sure that it was cleaned, hot tub emptied and filled, and everything was set for each guest. The hardest part was keeping track of the income and expense so that we could file taxes each month and at the end of the year.
The place is completely debt free so the only expenses are the normal utilities and taxes. We are not in this to make a bundle of money. We honestly want people to experience the north Georgia Mountains like we did before moving here. So far, the place has paid for itself and provided a great getaway for a lot of guests.
