Hi everyone!
I want to learn —how to ask your guests to leave a review after their stay?
Do you message them personally or just rely on the automated Airbnb prompt?
Would love to know what’s worked well for you.
Thanks in advance! 😊

Hi @Nandini11 ,
Great question and really good feedback. We have evolved over time in our approach, here's some of our thinking:
- as you mentioned, the system sends reminders to post a review so even if you do not send anything, AIRBNB is sending the guest something.
- in our case we get a lot of executive type guests and the thought of bothering them with a review request doesn't sit well with us. I imagine that the CEO who booked by home would rather enjoy a vacation free from tasks and requests and needs to get back to important things.
- alternatively, we also get groups of younger-adults (for a bike race, annual ski trip, whatever) and this younger demographic is posting a review almost immediately. So no prompt needed.
- we operate with the goal to have repeat great guests. So when a guest checks out and the report from our crew is that all is well then we send a message with a discount for a future stay and a big thank you.
- if the guest posts a review we will also post but we don't make a habit of going first. We feel like there is review fatigue happening in general and don't wish the last impression of our guest to be one where we are needing something from them.
Just some thoughts and a great topic!
Make your guests aware that you are expecting a 5 review well before they arrive and that you are prepared to earn it.
Do you send a morning after message? If not do this and also re-iterated.
Also send again, re-iterate on your checkout message.
This has to be done and worded subtly!
Good luck 🍀 🤞🏼

Thankyou @C197
I do all the things to make them comfortable, but don’t receive any reviews yet.
How many guests have you hosted? Something does not seem right if no reviews at all - I'm sure you're a great host. You need to get your reviews!!😊 The people below have given some great suggestions x
Good question- I leave a review right away, after they leave and I've inspected the guest space. That will prompt them to leave their own. I also send them a note in the message thread thanking them for their stay. No mention of a review, just gratitude.
Thankyou @Kitty-and-Creek0
I use to do that but still it doesn’t prompt them to leave any reviews to my listing.
This is great @Kitty-and-Creek0 !
Do you have a template note that you usually send as a thank you message, or do you personalize it for each guest?
It would be interesting to hear how guests react to these parting notes! 😉
Good question - I thank each unique guest individually, not with a template note.
Most of our guests leave a wonderful entry in the guest book, and when we read them, it is an instant mood lift!
@Kitty-and-Creek0 I love when hosts talk about guest books 😍 It is such a wonderful way to keep the memories of the guest and what they loved.
When I visited Québec City sometime ago, I found a similar guest book where guests left heart warming notes for host. An absolute hearty read!
Do you have a favorite guest book entry or a particularly memorable story someone shared?
We love all the entries, which are as unique as the individuals who wrote them. We are about to leave book #4 on the table !
WOW @Kitty-and-Creek0 ! Such an impressive feat 😍
Where do you usually keep the guest book? At the entry door or somewhere in the living room? The guest book that I found was kept in the living room, so that it easily caught my curious attention 😝 Is there any spot that’s worked best for you?
@Nandini11 , do you think adding a guest book would be a good idea for your listing too?
That’s definitely a nice idea of adding a guest book.
@Kitty-and-Creek0 tell me more about guest book… I don’t know and never heard it before.
Thankyou in advance 😌
A guest book is a bound journal with blank pages. We buy one that is beautiful, with quality paper, excellent binding and tooled leather cover.
Ohk thats we call it as a guest record….which doesn’t include a remark section.
However, i will now keep a guest book which will have a remark section too.
Thankyou❤️
