Just saying because you all hear my tales of woe. And a first timer too.
Lots of back and forth at booking because it looked odd with her daughter trying to book for her. We got it sorted after I explained the no 3rd party rules. I was still skeptical because it was a first time person and also its me....you know about my guests. 😳
Buy she was awesome and even left us a potted plant for the porch. I'm sorry she's gone lol.
Yaaayyyy!! Small victories, friends!
@Laura2592 Congrats! I’ve not had problems with first-time guests at all.
I think there are only a couple of things to worry about with first-time guests:
1) they have a new account because they are trying to wipe out an old one with negative reviews
2) they are computer-challenged and are having a hard time understanding how Airbnb works and might need some hand-holding
Other than these concerns, I have found first-time users to be extra-careful and conscientious, maybe because it is their first experience with Airbnb. I’ve also found them to be blown away and extra-grateful for what they get and experience during their visit compared to a hotel.
Other hosts have posted about “warning flag” guests, and mostly I’ve agreed - the super-young guests, other hosts, the finicky older guests, etc. - but first-time users have not been a group that I’ve had trouble with. Hopefully I’m not jinxing it by talking about it!
@Laura2592 I just had a lovely first-timer, too. Very appreciative of everything, read the listing, followed all the instructions and left the space super clean and tidy. It's always such a relief !
@Laura2592 Very happy for you- it's about time you got a hassle-free booking.
I've had a few newbie guests and they've been just fine. One was so cute- he said shortly after arrival- "I've never booked an Airbnb before and I don't really know the protocols- do you have a curfew when you'd like me to be in?"
I laughed, told him he was a grown up and could stay out as late as he wanted, just try not to be noisy and wake me up if he came in late.
Congrats! Eventually a great guest! 🙂
Yes, appearances in some situations can be deceptive, mainly in a first message.
However, when everything is cleared up and sorted out we can find a great guests!
That is why I tend to address the potential guest in a tactful way, but I ask them to clear up some points when it is necessary.
And there are the ones that look right but... that was lie!
But now it is time to celebrate! 🙂
