Mom is requesting to rent for her 17 year old son (who turns 18 1 week after this stay). The son is coming from out of country and needs "bridge " housing for a week before he moves into University housing. This seems to be in a gray area as the mother is renting. Would appreciate any guidance.
@Joseph-and-Nina0 It's definitely not a grey area: Airbnb specifically forbids third party bookings. See Booking for friends and family - Airbnb Help Center. I would not host a minor: if something goes wrong, it could be a serious liability for you. Airbnb won't cover you either. I would just say no.
I agree @Joseph-and-Nina0 this is definitely not a grey area
1. third party booking
2. hosting a minor
hmmmm... what would be the other options? Except to travel 1 week later 🙂 Is it allowed for a minor to stay alone in a hotel?
@Branka-and-Silvia0 Kids that age used to stay in hostels. Now it seems 17 year olds need entire apartments to themselves.
Same with the parties. When my kids were teenagers, if they wanted to have a party, either it happened in their own home if the parents okayed it, or they went to the beach, or the gravel pit, or the abandoned haunted house in the boonies.
Now they think they need an entire Airbnb house.
