Good evening, I don't know if you have the same problem in other countries, but is it normal to host someone for 3 nights and he send you 30 messages? I'm so worried I won't have time to respond.I couldn't sleep because of my anxiety yesterday. In fear don't give me 4 stars 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It seems a lot to me...
What kind of messages ? And why this fear ?
If you sleep, you can not respond to messages. Just turn of devices !
Hi @Stella850
Hmm, 30 messages from your host does seem like quite a lot. 😅 They’re probably just trying to make sure you have all the details and instructions you need for the property and your stay. I’d just acknowledge the messages, take note of the important information, and hopefully you can settle in comfortably and have a good night’s sleep. Sometimes hosts just want to be extra thorough so there won’t be any confusion during the stay.
@Patricia2526 . She's the host getting 30 messages from a male guest. In my experience @Stella850 male guests dont interact nearly half as much as the women but they can still give great reviews 😁
They were various types of questions about the area etc., although I have everything written down on a list inside the house with instructions. To tell the truth, no other guest has ever sent me so many messages. So I got a shock 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Everything else is fine ✌️
I would just suggest to the guest to review your list of house instructions and if they have any questions relating to the listing not covered in your house manual to reach out.
why do you feel you won't have time to respond - no one expects a host to be available 24:7 for non emergency issues
you can always let your guest know that you're available to respond to non emergency issues issues 9-5 or whatever times you feel comfortable with.
@Stella850 . I guess it depends on what the messages are about. Are they about things at the listing that could be answered in a Guest Manual or are they questions about the area and events (via a Local Guidebook)? What info did you provide at time of booking?
I tend to over communicate leading up to the check in date with anything I think may be useful for the guest to know. Most want to be left alone after that.
You may need to pull back or at least extend the time between replies.
Hi @Stella850,
Is the guest still sending you as many messages now?
Several hosts have shared their take on this situation and how they would manage it, I hope it helps but please let us know how it evolves!
Thanks,
Emilie
