Hello,
I recently received a request that started with, "Is there any chance you would make an exception to the 'no pet' rule?"
They went on to tell a long story about how they would like to bring their dog to help them hunt bear.
While my accommodation is in a town near an area where people hunt bear, the requested dates were outside of the DNR-listed bear hunting season and far outside of bear hunting season with a dog.
I found the request to make an exception to a house rule as a red flag, plain and simple, so I politely declined the request.
I searched Airbnb for a-pet friendly accommodation for the dates that they requested and there were other local options available, which I told the requestor when declining.
Then they requested to book again making a comment that they wouldn't bring their dog. They booked the exact same dates which were still outside of the DNR-listed bear hunting season, so I declined again as I found non-adherence to local bear hunting laws and rules as an obvious red-flag.
Has anyone else experienced this persistent type of requests for booking related to pets and/or hunting outside of permitted season?

It is indeed a red flag and you did right to decline. I personally would have sent a less friendly message the second time to the rebooking guest and report/block the guest from further communication.
