Response Rate - Do I need to Pre-approve or Decline if I responded to an Inquiry?

I received a request for 2 guests along with an  inquiry and the Pre-approve/Decline options.

In the potential guest's inquiry he asked if guests are allowed. I responded and asked for a little more information as to who will come with him and who will be his guests and explained that my property is more family oriented and that I do not allow parties.

It has been hours and the potential guest has not responded. I have read that I need to pre-approve or decline within 24 hours to maintain a positive response rate; however, as mentioned, I responded to his inquiry. Must I still pre-approve or decline with the 24 hour timeframe?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

@Mara1145  There is "Inquiry' which is a potential guest asking a question. This only requires your response within 24 hours.  It's optional to accept or decline. If you 'accept', the guest is pre-approved to book for 24 hours. Your calendar remains open for any dates inquired about. You can 'pre-approve' more than one guest for the same dates. Then there is "Request to Book' which comes from a guest who is serious and ready to book. This requires 'accept' or decline', also within 24 hours.

@Mara1145  And you'll get reminder messages from Airbnb, prodding you to pre-approve an Inquiry, as if something bad will happen if you don't. Pay it no mind. The inquiry expires within 24 hours. You can clear those reminders in your dashboard.
