Hi Everyone,
I have a question. I lost my Super Host cuz someone gave me a 1 star review and her reservation was cancelled by Airbnb. Yesterday Airbnb informed me that they removed this crazy lady's review. Anyway, up until today I had nine 5 star reviews, one 4 star review, and one 3 star review. That leaves me at 4.7. Today, I got another 5 star review. Does anyone know what my score will be when the last 5 star review is calculated? Can anyone please show me the math? I forgot or I'm tired. I'm not sure.
@Ann10 10x 5*s=50 plus 1x4*s=4 plus 1x 3*s=3.
Total is 57 divided by 12 reviews= 4.75
Thank you for your reply. Do you know if they round up? They did round up when my score was 4.73 because when I did the math it was 4.727.
@Ann10 Also bear in mind that only reviews in the 12 months prior to the end of the review period count towards the Superhost calculation.
Here's a review calculator https://calculator.academy/average-rating-calculator-star-rating/#f1p1
@Ann10 Someone once shared with me that it takes 300 to over come 4 stars, and 3,000 to overcome 3 stars, etc.
But the reviews drop off after a year.
Why is you rating still affected if the review was removed?
Hi Jillian,
Are you saying that I have to get 300 5 star reviews to overcome a 4 star review, and 3000 5 star reviews to overcome a 3 star review? That is crazy. I don't think it is still affecting my score, because I did the math without the 1 star review and it seems to be correct. They haven't updated my score since I got the last 5 star review and right now, I'm at 4.73 which is a round up from 4.727. When the last 5 star review gets calculated in it will be 4.75. Do they round up?
Also, if someone looks at my listing they see 4.91. Do you know what that is based on? Thank you for your reply.
@Ann10 @Jillian115 There are two things going on here.
Superhost target is 4.8 for reviews in the last 12 months.
The concept of needing 300ish reviews to overcome a 4 is for the sad hosts (myself included) who would like their properties to have a perfect 5.00 rating. Because a properties rating covers all reviews from day 1 AND it is calculated to two decimal places you need a huge number of 5* reviews to make up for one lower rating.
I hope this makes sense.
For this property, for a long time I had all 5 star reviews. I was like that too, but I give up. Do you know why it says 4.91 on the listing when guests look at it, but now I'm seeing 4.75 for the last year. Do you know if they will round up?
@Ann10 Yes, thats how it works. It's almost impossible to overcome a low rating. You just have to wait a year for it to drop off. Thats why its so devastating when we get them. All of mine said everything was great then 4 stars :(. It looks like you have a 4.91 so you are probably looking at the monthly view.
Heres July for me it shows I have 5 stars but I actually have 4.98.
Also your Superhost status may be down to something else. Did you meet all 4 criteria? Im wondering if Airbnb dinged you for the cancellation.
No the 4.75 is for the year. The monthly view is 66.6% because some ding-dong who didn't read the listing gave me a 3. However, it looks like I may have regained my SH Status. See screenshots. Airbnb cancelled the booking for the lady who got there really late at night and said she could not find the lockbox which is on a pole in the backyard as explained in the directions. She said she didn't look on the one and only pole in the back yard, but was looking for some other pole. So, they didn't ding me for that and eventually they removed the 1 star review. So dumb. They finally conceded that since she didn't get there during check in time that they would remove the stupid review.
Hey Everyone,
Thanks for all of your comments. It looks like I got my SH status back.
I also used to have a 100% response rate, but I have this stalker person who took over my account at one point. Airbnb knows I was hacked, but now I don't have the energy to get them to fix things. It's so taxing and I have worse problems right now.
@Ann10 I know its impossible these days to get help. Anyway glad you got it back. I guess you just have to wait for the system to update.
I don't think I got it back yet. One of the screenshots I posted was for the future and one was the past. I was mistaken. If they round up, I will get it back. However, I took screenshots of all the months and years that I got SH status and I added it to the photos on my listing. 🙂
I just found this which seems to be for the current period. From what I understand accepted reservations doesn't have anything to do with your Super Host status. If someone doesn't respond when I ask them a question like, "did you read the listing". I'm not going to accept them. I want to make sure the people understand what they are getting and if they will be happy.
