Welcome Gifts

Welcome Gifts

Hi all — I'm developing a small local product for NZ Airbnb hosts and would love some honest feedback before I go further.

The idea is a beautifully presented "taste of NZ" welcome box for guests — a small selection of local treats, designed for two people, ready to place in the property before arrival. Something that elevates the arrival experience without any extra work for you.

I'm costing it out at the moment, likely landing around $30 per box. Genuinely curious — is that something you'd consider adding to your properties? Would love to hear your honest thoughts, even if the answer is no!

Hello @Anna18927 ,

I think it is a great idea, especially if the box can be personalized based on each host's request.

Another thing to consider is that New Zealand tends to attract guests who stay for a while and move between different Airbnbs. This means it could get repetitive if guests receive the same thing at every stay, so variety matters too.

I would start with a few listings close by and expand from there.

Hi @Anna18927

Not in NZ, but here's my input ...

Great advice from @Guy991

I would consider buying in bulk if something affordable was available for my region, not my country. This would address his concern about repetitiveness, and would make the content more relevant.

As an example, most of what we can get here, comes in packaging that features a lion or a rhino or a giraffe. That covers most of sub-Saharan Africa, but has little relevance to my region. It's not a way for me to help guests experience my specific location. Instead, it's a general theme showcasing what they've already seen on their way down here, or will see later.
