We made a booking in early March for a late September stay. Since our original booking the property has been sold twice that we are aware of. So it’s possible the original owner/host booking does not exist. Can we void our booking now as they will not postpone after we can’t access the property due to Covid restrictions? They offered a postponement in July but went back on their offer for 2022 as they didn’t disclose the property was selling/sold. I’ve been getting nowhere with support, so far. Thanks.
@L-A2400 This is fishy on so many levels. A listing can't really be transferred from one homeowner to another, so this listing well could be a fake. Check the URL, is it even an actual Airbnb address?
Thanks Andrew. We are feeling our first Airbnb experience has not been transparent, professional or even run legally. We are not receiving any communication from the host anymore. I am trying to keep in touch with Airbnb support but they are not replying now. I guess I will need to call support again for a third time today.
@L-A2400 It is sometimes better to use the message option to communicate with support. That way you can lay it all out clearly, they can read it, and it is documented.
There are tricks to dealing with Airbnb CS.
State the issue aas simply as possible, in chronological order, using bullet point, not paragraphs.
On March 10th, 2021 we made a booking for (insert name and URL of listing)
On April 1 we were offered a date alteration.
On......
Like that. Just be really clear and stick exactly to the issue, leave anything extraneous out so as not to confuse the issue.
At the end, state exactly what you are asking support to do for you- in this case it seems you want a cancellation with full refund, unless they can ensure that you still have a valid booking and with whom.
Cheers have done this on numerous occasions and still trying. Will ring again today. Thanks for the tips. 👍
