Posting this here in hopes of reaching all the Clarkstown, NY Hosts so that we can rally and prevent short term rentals from being banned!! Show up to make sure our voices are heard!!! See info below posted on the Town of Clarkstown page!!!
"In light of the horrific shooting incident committed this weekend in New City, Supervisor Hoehmann and the Town Board have directed the Town Attorney to schedule a public hearing for Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 7:00PM to amend the town code to eliminate short term rentals within the Town. Thus any residents wishing to have their voices heard on this matter should attend the March 8th Town Board meeting. The Town of Clarkstown already has some of the strictest town codes in the region including a requirement for all rental properties to be registered and inspected and comply with restrictions. The Town will amend the code to ban short term rentals. The weekend's incident is troubling and is still under active criminal investigation. Moreover, if any additional town codes were violated during this incident the Town will pursue these vigorously in Justice Court.
If residents are aware of any illegal rentals, please call the Clarkstown Building Department at 639-2100, the Town Attorney at 639-2060, or the Supervisor's Office at 639-2050. Supervisor Hoehmann will be providing an update on the first Teletown Hall call of the year from 6:00-7:00PM tonight Monday, January 31st. Residents can call in to that meeting by calling (845) 207-0875.
The Clarkstown Police Department Detective Bureau continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. We are fortunate to have one of the best police departments in the nation. Great job by the exceptional Clarkstown Police for their swift apprehension of all the suspects and for their dedication to protecting the residents of Clarkstown."
