It has been reported that Airbnb's co-owner, Joe Gebbia, is now connected with DOGE. DOGE is going after DEI, Social Security, National Parks, just to name a few. Many of Airbnb's users are, in fact, Democrats. Unless, there is immediate removal of the DOGE connection, we will be removing our listings from the Airbnb platform. I cannot believe Airbnb would allow this given their policies on inclusion in our rentals. Pathetic.
Couldn't agree more. Planning a few trips coming up and I'm avoiding using AirBNB because of this. I hope more people follow suit.
Hi! I agree! I just sold all of my Airbnb stock and I am going to delete the app.
Joe left Airbnb in 2022. Under his co leadership, Airbnb significantly supported inclusion. Now he is working to streamline the user interface of Government systems, to save taxpayers so much money. He isn't responsible for Trumps policy on Dei and isn't implementing it even though he is in DOGE in a different area (user design of systems). He's no longer working for Airbnb anyway.
So what. You want to support alternatives to Airbnb like BookingCom now? Who have never supported inclusion like Joe's company Airbnb has?
Please do not hate on the ONE company who has led inclusion in home stays, because a former founder is now working on user interface design for the USA government?
Your hate and cancel culture is being directed at the wrong company. You are harming yourself, but also the company LEADING diversity and inclusion.
Please put down your pitchfork and support Airbnb, not harm them, and the poor hosts and guests.
Airbnb has zero to do with Trump anyway.
Joe is still on the board.
That's not true he is still a major shareholder in Airbnb and Chair of airbnb.org @Chris37
Would you agree that Airbnb is a global leader in inclusivity?
I'd assume we should all be happy at this, as other platforms do not seem this way.
So it is somewhat a surprise there seems hate directed at Airbnb, as if they did something wrong - when all I can see is they are doing most everything right!
If Joe is on the board of the Airbnb charity, that is also a good thing right?
The Org entity is very positive and inclusive. Has there been anything they have done or even said that is negative? I am not aware of anything.
As for Joe being a shareholder. Respectfully, how is this relevant? To give hate to Joe or Airbnb simply because of what unrelated policies his bosses boss is implementing in USA seems misguided. Like we want to hate someone, so we burn a neighbours Tesla down or Hate on Joe, simply because we do not like the current USA policy or leadership by Trump?
I think there is a lot of clutching at straws here, trying to hold Airbnb somehow accountable for the president's leadership - yet they are the ONE company that is a leader in inclusivity. So perhaps we should congratulate Joe, not want him hung drawn and quartered, and his Tesla vandalised lol. Give the poor guy a break.
I think it is well time for a correction back towards equality and merit based engagement, and given the national debt, responsible spending - such as not on things that are not core necessities right now, even if they were good. We don't spend on holidays and mindfulness courses when you do not have enough to eat. USA is going broke, so glad some are on the job, even if it is very painful to have major change and disruption.
But if Joe is still a major shareholder and chair of the Airbnb charity - I think we should all join in celebrating what he has done, and put down any attempts to cancel culture or hate on him, as such mindless attitude is as much the problem as anything else going on right now!
Airbnb is a good company, and if Joe is a shareholder of a good company, then we should be thankful for Joe's prior leadership, and his current funding of this good company.
@Chris37 Hysterical hyperbole is norm on social media. Tribal instincts are elevated along with the usual virtue signaling.
Airbnb needs to focus on improving, moving forward their interface and service to best support guests and hosts. I've leave it at that.
Sadly, I cancelled three stays in PNW this summer for a three week vacation. I feel for the hosts, however cannot support this affiliation.

Joe left operations at Airbnb in 2022. So he's no longer working there. Meanwhile he is at DOGE but not in the area you complain of.
Before you bring hate and harm to Airbnb, please understand what Joe is actually doing, and importantly what he is NOT doing. While Joe was working for Airbnb he helped bring diversity and inclusion there. Now he's helping streamline retirement processes so your tax dollars are not wasted on nonsense.
Please support this initiative. You may not like everything Elon is doing, but you are not helping by harming those who are on your side, but you dont see it that way.
Here's he latest post on X. Please reconsider by realising he has helped inclusion, and is NOT working to remove it. Yes he's in DOGE, but drawing a link from his former work at Airbnb to what he is doing now makes no sense at all. And going against Airbnb just harms you and your guests

Excited to share I’m bringing my designer brain and start-up spirit into the government. My first project at DOGE is improving the slow and paper-based retirement process.
Since leaving my operating role at Airbnb in 2022, I’ve been looking for the next digital design challenge. And I can think of few more important ones than volunteering to improve the user experience within our government.
If anyone else in good standing wants to help design beautiful, user-friendly digital products, reach out.
So you will switch to other platforms, despite Airbnb being the leader by far in active support of DEI?
You literally want to support other companies who do not align with and actively support dei as much as Airbnb?
Joe left Airbnb in 2022 and is not even a major shareholder anymore.
Put down your pitchfork. If you want to support DEI then obviously you want to support Airbnb, not hate on them for what a former worker does now.
Anyway, Joe is working on user interface design for government systems at DOGE. You realise he is not removing dei himself?
Airbnb has zero to do with Trump policies and who cares what some former founder and not even major shareholder is doing in his new role.
Sure switch platforms, but only if you want to support companies that care far less about dei than Airbnb does.
The world has gone crazy. People just want to hate on anything, because they are not happy about change. Smart is to boycott entities that do stuff you do not like. Airbnb is doing what you like. Actively, and not doing what you don't like. Smart is to support Airbnb, and not switch your business to platforms who cares vastly less about diversity and inclusion.
I've had multiple guests reach out and ask to cancel or book through alternative channels. I don't care what anyone's political beliefs are, as long as they are good people, and Airbnb should do everything in its power to keep any stakeholders from being involved in partisanship. Airbnb is a hospitality business at its core and taking any sides is counterproductive to the concept of welcoming all.
Airbnb should remove Mr. Gebbia from any further connections with the company other than as a shareholder.
