Attention Airbnb Hosts in Christchurch Urgent Read!

hello Airbnb Hosts,

Last week the CCC passed a proposal 9 to 8 to bring in a resource consent that seriously affects our ability

to operate our businesses. It will cost you $1000s and control how many guests you have to stay by limiting how many nights you can have them.

There is a window of opportunity before this resolution is put in law to make submissions over the next few weeks. I strongly encourage you all to do this and have your voice heard. If we can join together to make an impact with submitting to the council let me know by replying.

I had a meeting with Sam Mcdonald a councilor opposing the resolution and he has sent me some links,

which I will put up here. Unfortunately, they cant be live but you can copy them and put the addresses on the internet and will get you to the relevant places on the CCC web site.

Hi Peter I'm responding to give you a boost out of the unanswered column & to suggest that you look for any local hosting groups. There is such a push pull between neighbors who hate airbnb , sometimes for good reason, and responsible hosts who are providing a service & cash to the local economy. If there isn't a local group perhaps you could message fellow hosts via the platform? This is something where small time & nearby hosts do have an advantage, being voters in the municipality. Thanks for your useful reply and support. 

I do want to contact as many hosts here as possible to inform them of what is being proposed and to give them a chance to make submissions to council before this is passed so if anyone knows a way to contact hosts in one place like Christchurch then let me know.

@Peter2813 I would search for all Christchurch hosts and send them a booking inquiry. A bit naughty but I am sure they will see the benefit.
