Thats what I thought too, but then when I broke down the taxes charged and did the perecentages, they were charging 13%, plus my 5% "Property Use Tax" (GST that I put in). 13% didn't make sense to me, but my accountant looked into it and apparently PST is 8% on accommodations in BC + 5% GST. So guests were paying around 18% taxes, and GST was getting remitted twice.
All we need to do to avoid being on the hook for the GST is to be able to prove that GST has been charged and remitted, and Airbnb has now added in a "tax breakdown" in their taxes charged section. So if you were ever asked, you could give them a breakdown of this report
