Edmonton, Alberta city laws for AirBnB

Hello

I have a colleague who lives in Edmonton, Alberta and he is confused about the city bylaws.  From what he read it seems to him that he needs to have a business license to operate an AirBnB in the city. He just wants to rent his basement as a suite, not the whole house.

Can anyone confirm what is required by the city of Edmonton to rent?

Thanks

Hi @Wade120,

I am a host and Airbnb Community Leader for Edmonton and Northern Alberta.

The answer is yes he would be required to get a business license but they are quite easy to get and it is all completed online.  Here is more information.
