[Enhancement] Co-Host Permission Access Levels Control Change: This change allows co-hosts to view other data and perform actions that are restricted.

Greetings,

I recently found a Co-Host to manage my property on my behalf. This person is registered as a Host in this property, and I was added as a Co-Host.

The Host has granted me “Calendar Access,” which allows me to view the calendar and check-in/checkout details. However, I have requested access to the full earnings dashboard and detailed reservations.

The Host needs to grant me “Full Access,” but I don’t need to view everything. I want to access specific data and perform a few actions without the Host’s intervention.

I kindly request an enhancement for Airbnb to break down the all-encompassing “Full Access” permission level into more granular access levels. This would allow Hosts to grant Co-Hosts specific access permissions to view different data that is currently not available to them as a Co-Host, unless they have been granted a Full Access level.

Enhancements request:

1. As a Co-Host: I would appreciate the ability to block specific days in my calendar for personal use. This would eliminate the need to repeatedly ask the Host for permission to block those days.

2. As a Co-Host: The ability for the Host to grant access to the Co-Host to view the full earnings dashboard and detailed reservations. This would eliminate the need to repeatedly ask the Host for earnings data and detailed reservations

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Alfredo

@Alfredo777  When the listing was set up you should have set it up under your profile and added the cohost as the cohost .

in this way you could have set yourself up to have full access to the listing including payments etc and the ability to block out dates in the calendar .

The problem appears to be that you allowed the cohost to set your listings up under their profile meaning they keep all the reviews and ratings and are in charge of your access to the listing.

Hi @Helen3 ,

You’re right, and it was designed this way: “Set your listings up under their profile…”

The reason behind this is that they manage multiple properties under a single profile, providing a centralized way to manage their properties.

Therefore, I’m asking for an enhancement to cover the use case scenario described in my first email.

I hope my response clarifies the use case scenario, which I believe is quite a valid one.

Thank you,

Alfredo

Just ask your manager to change your permissions as a cohost so you can access full booking information.

you can then go in and block dates on your calendar etc

you don't need an enhancement..

@Alfredo777

I don’t need or want full access. Therefore, I’m requesting an enhancement.

The requirement is that the access and permissions be limited to a small scope of the Full access, as shown below. I only need to view earnings, transaction history, and edit the calendar.

Co-host with full access can:
  • Manage the listing: Edit listing information and photos.
  • Manage bookings: Accept or decline inquiries and trip requests.
  • Manage the calendar: View and edit the calendar and set dates and times.
  • Manage guests: Message guests and respond to trip change requests.
  • Manage payments and reimbursements: View earnings and transaction history and submit and manage reimbursement requests for damage.
  • Manage other co-hosts: Invite other co-hosts, manage their permissions, and remove them.

Cheers,

Alfredo

As I said previously your manager can adjust your access to give you those permissions. Why don't you ask them to do this? @Alfredo777

I am a Co-Host with "Calendar access" only.

I have requested these permissions. However, the Host won't give me the Full Access because of the privacy of the messaging between the Host and the Guests.

Therefore, I request that the Full Access be divided into selectable options within the Full Access. This would resolve the issue for this specific use case scenario (as a developer, I believe the request is straightforward and should not be a significant task for the enhancement.) I am quite certain that others would also prefer a more granular level of access control to features, allowing them to turn them on and off based on their needs.

Setting permissions for Co‑Hosts

When you invite a Co‑Host, you’ll be asked to choose what they can access to help manage your listing. Options include:

  • Full access, to manage the calendar and listing, remove and set permissions of other Co‑Hosts, message guests, view payouts and transaction history, and submit and manage reimbursement requests on your behalf in the Resolution Centre and under Host damage protection*
  • Calendar and messaging access, to view the calendar and message guests
  • Calendar access, to view the calendar and check-in and checkout details

All Co-Hosts will appear as Co-Hosts on your listing, except those with calendar access only. Co-Hosts with full access can set themselves as the primary Host on the listing, or you can choose to do so. You can change Co-Hosts’ permissions at any time.

Cheers,

Alfredo

It is your listing and ridiculous for your property manager to say they can't give you access to full access because you would see messages between the manager and guests ... what do they have to hide. @Alfredo777

I've been a cohost for five years and the owners I work with have full access as cohosts - there is no reason for them not to.

your issue is to do with your property manager refusing to give you access and that you allowed your property manager to set your listing up under their profile

sorry I can't help you further but your property manager can do this easily by opening up your access.

@Alfredo777 , you've absolutely hit the nail on the head. This is one of the most frustrating limits of the Co-Host tools right now, and your suggested enhancements are spot on.

Every high-level Co-Host runs into this exact problem: Calendar Access is just too limited, and Full Access is way too much risk for the Host to hand over.

Here's the community reality check on your two requests:

1. blocking personal days (calendar)

You're completely right that this is a major oversight. A Co-Host managing the property should logically have the ability to block dates without repeatedly asking the Host.

current workaround: many hosts and co-hosts bypass this by relying on an external, synced calendar (like Google Calendar). The Host links it to Airbnb, and the Co-Host manages all personal blocks directly on that external calendar. The blocks then automatically push to the Airbnb calendar. It's a tedious setup, but it stops the constant messaging.

2. granular access to earnings and reservations

This is the most requested feature among experienced Co-Hosts. The reason it's currently locked behind Full Access is purely down to legal and financial security.

the problem: "Full Access" usually includes the ability to change banking details and tax information, which is something Airbnb is rightly very cautious about separating due to liability.

your solution is key: your suggestion for a view-only earnings dashboard is brilliant. If it showed reservation totals, cleaning fees, and your commission breakdown, but didn't allow access to bank accounts or tax forms, it would solve 99% of the problem without forcing the Host to compromise their personal details.

I completely support this feature request. The current permissions matrix forces Hosts to either overshare sensitive access or manually pull data they shouldn't have to. Hopefully, the product team sees how much these two specific changes would improve the Co-Host experience.

Have you tried using the external calendar workaround yet, or are you currently stuck manually messaging the Host for every block?
