Expense tracker

I’m looking for a free download Earnings vs expense spreadsheet

@Lyle58  If using Microsoft Excel, there are multiple different free spreadsheet templates. Once you have found a template for expenses, create your spreadsheet file.  Then look for an income template and create a second spreadsheet file.  Once you have both, you can combine them as two tabs in a single spreadsheet.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Lorna. @Lyle58, does this resonate with you? Keep us posted if you decide to give it a try.

Hi @Lyle58 — Lorna's suggestion works, but heads up: combining two separate templates yourself means you'll need to manually wire the formulas so income and expenses talk to each other (net profit, running totals, etc.), which can get fiddly if you're not deep into spreadsheets.

I ran into the same problem and ended up building a single Google Sheet that already has income, expenses, and a profit/tax summary combined and calculating automatically — no formula-building required. It's not free (it's a paid template), so if you want a fully free DIY route, Lorna's approach is still the way to go. Just flagging the alternative in case a done-for-you version saves you the setup time.
