Hi,
Apologies if this is a repeat message. I’m looking for advice on the hosting experience in Argentina, specifically in Buenos Aires. I visited last year and fell in love with the city. While I’m currently based in Chicago, I’m exploring the possibility of immigrating if I can gather enough information and if it makes economic sense. Ideally, I’d like to split my time between Buenos Aires and Chicago.
I’d love to connect with a local host who’s willing to answer some questions. I tried joining the Facebook group Club de Anfitriones Airbnb Buenos Aires but was denied, so I’m reaching out here instead. To complicate things further, I don’t speak Spanish.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Hi @Akin119,
That's an exciting prospect, what made you pick Buenos Aires specifically?
The host clubs are only open to current hosts, which might be why your request was not approved this time around. However you've come to the right place for support, as our Community Centre is global and gathers hosts from all around the world!
I'd love to see if some of our hosts with experience in Argentina might be able to give you some advice: @Paola2576 @Nicholas998 @Daniela2702 @Max2659 @Marina741 @Silvia536 what woudl you suggest?
Thank you everyone!
Emilie

Sorry, I didn’t respond to your question earlier. Over the last couple of years, I’ve been fortunate to travel to many major cities in Latin America, including Mexico City, Bogotá, Medellín, Rio, Santiago, and, most recently, Buenos Aires. I really enjoy hiking and spending time in untouched wilderness, my visit to the Patagonian regions of Chile and Argentina was a game-changer. It put Buenos Aires on my short list. When I experienced the city’s beautiful architecture and vibrant atmosphere, I was sold.
Welcome on board!! I've been hosting guests in my home (I share my apt. With my dear guests)in Buenos Aires in Belgrano neighborhood since 2017.
I've only stopped 2 years during pandemia..
Buenos Aires is beautiful,I travel every year to Spain where my children and grandchildren live so that I can compare cities...Buenos Aires city is nice, elegant some neighborhoods,Argentina and Spain are very alike.
The best of Argentina is the weather, sunny, not so cold neither hot only some hot days in Buenos Aires city.
Akin, the rocky point in Argentina is making decision due to economical inestability and lack of "currency" but if you earn in dollars, Argentina is nice and Buenos Aires city is heavenly, jaja
Well Akin, don't hesitate to ask me whatever you want.
Im an English an Spanish online teacher jaja
Silvia
Hi Silvia,
Thank you so much for the warm welcome! It’s a pleasure to meet you. I truly appreciate your perspective as a seasoned host and your willingness to guide newcomers like me.
I’m still doing some research on my end, so I’ll follow up once I have a list of questions. And who knows-I might just take you up on those English and Spanish classes 🙂.
I look forward to connecting more soon!
Best,
Akin
Hi! Definitely, Buenos Aires is a bustling and beautiful city, but what a big move and adventure it could be for you!
Argentina is a great country, easy to fall in live with, but one thing I would like to mention, is that it could be quite a challenge for you due to our fluctuating economy and economic policies .... though one gets used to it and learns how to "surf" the changes, nothing is imposible!
I was born and live in Buenos Aires and I have been hosting a loft in San Telmo for almost 6 years.
I am willing to try to answer any other questions and share my experience with you.
Hello Marina,
Thank you very much for your insights, and perspective on navigating Argentina, I’ve never surfed before, should be fun :). I looking forward to learning more, and will reach out once I have a little bit more research under my belt.
Chat soon,
Akin
