We have a cabin in a high-fire area of the Sequoias that is insured through the California FAIR Plan since no private insurance will cover our dwelling. We recently received an addendum to the policy that seems to suggest that they will not honor any claims if the property was used for AIRBN. Our main concern is if a forest fire destroys our cabin, will they be able to deny our claim just because the cabin was rented? Did anyone else in California receive this addendum?
It looks like some homeowners policies (eg Farmers) do have a fire loss coverage specifically for "homesahre" (eg AirBnb?), perhaps offered to fill this coverage gap in the FAIR Plan?
