First long term stay.

I have a question.  I have the month of October booked by one guest.  Just wondering.  Do other host leave a months worth of TP, paper towels and laundry detergent?   I’m thinking no that’s on the guest but I also would like to hear what other host do for long term stay guest.

@Stephanie2086  No, no one charges just for changing the sheets- that would be a really good way to get bad reviews. Huma said she does a room cleaning for a small fee and changing the sheets would just be part of it.

Oh, glad I asked. So, if I were to do a room cleaning every week, what would one charge. I've been charging $10 a day extra (per person) if they want other meals besides breakfast (which is included in the cost of the room).

@Stephanie2086  I have no idea. None of my guests has wanted me to clean their room or change the sheets for them, so it's never come up for me. Almost all my guests have been clean and tidy, so I've never encountered a situation where I felt like I wished I had insisted on a once a week cleaning, and while I offer it for free in my ad, all the guests seem to prefer their privacy so have never taken me up on it.

We'll see what Huma has to say about what she charges.

I charge for cleaning the room, which includes changing and washing the sheets and towels. I normally charge £10, which is really a token charge as it's not even minimum wage! I am starting to think I need to up that, at least for the largest room that does take a long time to clean.

I am pretty flexible about it though. If guests want to do it themselves, they have at least two sets of bed linens and towels so can do it at their leisure. Otherwise, I'm happy to throw their sheets/towels in the wash for them as I prefer they were actually washed than used continuously for a month or more!

For what it's worth, we have a "once per week" change of bedding and towels included in the price. If the guest wants it more often, we offer full cleaning service including change of bedding and towels for all rooms for 100€ per incident. If they only want change of bedding and towels, it's 25€ per room (2 pax per room). Only one guest has ever opted for either of those options.

Wow! I had to google what these prices were in US dollars. Comes out to $133 and $33 respectively. I couldn't ask that much. Anyway, I have one more question. So far, I've had about 7 guests and three of these guests are sleeping on top of the comforter and not in between the sheets. Has anyone else noticed this behavior? Any idea what the reason might be? COVID?

People just have different sleeping habits. Some like to be very warm and some prefer to be very cool. It probably has nothing to do with COVID.

A cleaning service would charge us at least 200€ for a full clean.

Our laundry service charges about 200€ to launder and press 4 complete sets of bedding, towels, duvets, etc. 

How much would you pay over there?

I have an onsite laundry room and do the laundry and pressing myself. I've been paying about $20 per month (not including soap), which is roughly £14.71.

I have just started hosting I have had a total of 7 guest an 4 of the 7 slept on top of the comforter. I  thought it was the weirdest thing ever.

I had my first long term stay of 3 weeks, and since they had no reviews and were coming from out of country, I reluctantly approved 3 -1 week trips.  Maybe this was a strange way to handle it, but I felt it would allow me the chance to go in and clean once a week, and check on things. I charged them $50 each week for a full cleaning, even though they were keeping the house clean enough.  Also, there was a language barrier, and we had to run our conversations through a translator app.   In the end, there was some damage done.  I probably will not accept folks with no reviews next time.

I have noticed that some people sleep on the pillow sham pillows rather than the bed pillows.  Guess they don't know any better.  I have provided extra pillows on hand for particular back or stomach sleepers,but they still sleep on the pillows with quilted shams, which I always thought were for decoration, or for propping up to read or working on computer in bed.
