Host transfer

Host transfer

We own an AIRBNB property that is managed by somebody else. We want to take over managing it ourselves. The current host has gotten good reviews. Is there a way to take over the existing listing so that the reviews don't get lost or do we need to start from scratch?

Alternatively is there a way we can be added as co-hosts and then ultimately become the host of the current listing?

Thanks.

Thank you for the response. @Helen3

After reading your response I thought of a couple of questions:

1. will AIRBNB allow two listings with the same address?

2. once the current property manager snoozes the listing, all payments for the existing listings will still go to them so I will have to get my share from the property manager?

@Susan5918 Any change in the host, i.e., the person who owns the listing account, will result in the loss of all reviews associated with that account. Property reviews are tied to the person/company/agency that LISTS the property.

Likewise, you cannot be added as a co-host and then transition to the host without again, losing all reviews.

I have contacted AIRBNB customer service but have been unable to get a clear answer on how to proceed.

Unfortunately there are some unscrupulous cohosts who put their clients listings under their profile creating problems for owners who want to change management arrangements.

you will need to ask your property manager to snooze the listing so they don't get more bookings and then set up your own listing  blocking out dates where the cohost already has taken bookings

This is something you really need to talk through with your property manager .

payments should go directly to you from Airbnb so I am not sure what your set up is.

do check your contract with them.
