Improvement Proposal: Consistently Use Business Email for Hosting-Related Communication

Dear Airbnb Developers,

I recently updated my "Business email" under "Business Details" to a professional address, expecting all hosting-related emails (e.g., booking requests, guest messages, payout notifications) to go there instead of my personal email under "Account" > "Personal info." However, I’m still receiving hosting emails on my personal address today.

I’d like to propose an improvement: please ensure the "Business email" is consistently used for all hosting-related communication once set. As a host who also uses Airbnb for personal trips, separating these emails would help me stay organized, maintain professionalism with guests, and keep my personal inbox free for travel-related updates. It’s a small tweak that could make a big difference for multi-purpose users like me!

Thanks for considering this,

Rudolf

Hi @Rudolf103 I understand your concern regarding the reception of hosting-related emails at your personal address despite updating your "Business email" under "Business Details." Currently, Airbnb's system primarily uses the email address listed under "Account" > "Personal info" for all communications, including hosting activities. The "Business email" field is mainly utilised for business verification purposes and doesn't redirect hosting communications to the specified business email.

To manage hosting communications separately from personal ones, consider

Set Up Email Forwarding Rules: Configure your personal email account to automatically forward Airbnb hosting emails to your business email. This method allows you to receive all hosting communications in your business inbox without altering your Airbnb account settings.

Let's hope later they can implement this as I'm sure many other hosts would like the same function.

@Chippy3 Hi! Thanks so much for the workaround suggestion. I appreciate you clarifying how the system currently works. Hopefully, Airbnb will implement a proper separation of those email addresses in the future! 😊
