Messaging previous guests

Hello Everyone,

Are you allowed to message previous guests with a special discount and information about new amenities at the property (ie. hot tub)?

IMO it is not forbidden, but personally i would never do it.

Let's wait for some more opinions from other hosts.

Where I live in the UK and in Europe you are not allowed to send marketing information to customers unless you have their permission to do so. They have to 'opt in'. @Sarah3750

Sorry I can't see where you are hosting as Airbnb has blocked us from checking host profiles when they 'updated' this group last week, so can't advise further.

Hi, I live in Ontario, Canada

Would an update about the property  and no discount be considered marketing information because communication previously has already been established with the guests?

I am interested in the responses from this as well.

@Sarah3750   I have not researched this on AirBnB, but I do know that other platforms have rules against using their communication tools/platform to send special offers or marketing information to previous guests.

I keep guest records outside of the OTA platforms, i.e., my guests are asked for their email addresses and phone numbers so that I can communicate with them.  If they provide them, I am able to send a marketing message using my outside business email, not the OTA platform.

Thats so interesting , its like these platforms don't support hosts with their businesses in terms of rewarding their customers for being advocates and leveraging on the power of referrals.

Wonder how many hosts are interested in engagement solutions to improve customer acquisition / retention via loyalty and referrals programmes

I thought I had made post in here, must have a similar post to yours,

Personally I wouldnt do it, I am sure airbnb must have some Spam protector built in you might get away with a few but then you get blocked, some countries it's considered illegal as been mentioned.

To be honest in all the years we have been on airbnb we have not had many guest return and the ones we have had just booked through airbnb but some have asked for discount,

We have a guy who has stayed with us a couple of times and that was in low season, now he wants a special deal it's high season now, a special deal to him is not a special deal for me, we are full till next February I dont have to deal with him he now knows,

What we do with all our guest I add them to a Whats app group you could do that, Do people use emails these days?

Maybe somebody on here can tell us does airbnb mail previous guest.........? I've never been a guest on airbnb.

I think on Booking .com they have some kind of loyalty program for returning guest
