No professional Invoices on the "Business Platform": A Long-Standing Problem

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share my frustrating experience with Airbnb’s "Business Platform " because I believe other business travelers should be aware of it.

Despite the platform’s promise to support business travel by offering tools like a "Company Dashboard" and a "Business Travel" option, it consistently fails to deliver on one critical feature: providing a proper invoice with company details.

Having a proper invoice is not optional for business expenses—it’s mandatory for tax and accounting purposes. Any reliable company, whether small or large, typically provides this documentation quickly. However, I’ve been jumping through hoops with Airbnb, wasting hours in lengthy chats with support, and still haven’t resolved this issue.

Over the course of four trips, I’ve contacted Airbnb support more than five times, only to receive generic receipts that don’t reflect my company’s name, address, or other required credentials—despite entering all this information into their system.

Support agents repeatedly avoid giving a straight, honest answer about the platform’s limitations. Instead, they send me the exact links to claim receipts or direct me to contact the host for documentation. None of these steps resulted in the proper invoice I needed. After escalating my concerns and wasting valuable time, I was eventually told the platform doesn’t have this functionality.

Looking at Reddit threads dating back years, it’s clear I’m not the only one dealing with this issue. This is unacceptable for those who rely on proper documentation for tax and expense reporting. It makes Airbnb’s "Business Platform" seem more like a marketing gimmick than a functional tool for professionals.

I’m sharing this here to inform others and invite anyone with similar experiences to speak up. Airbnb needs to recognize this as a fundamental flaw in its service for business users and address it immediately.

Until then, I cannot recommend Airbnb as a reliable option for professional purposes if proper invoices are necessary for your business.

Thanks for reading, and I hope this helps others avoid the frustration I’ve faced.

Sincerely,
Olivier
