I went into the by-law centre on Industrial and although the first clerk gave me a hard time (long story short, they require your insurance certificate to specifically state on a summary piece up front that you’re covered for ST accommodation rental), I came back at a different time and got a clerk who was more reasonable and took the time to read the relevant section of my actual insurance policy document and got comfortable I had met the requirement. So I’m literally waiting for the in-person inspection to happen (scheduled for later today). Fingers crossed! The whole process took about two months if one nets out the time they sent me an acknowledgement email to the time this inspection is to happen. With the postal strike and everything I would definitely recommend going in person as I did. Main advice: read their requirements VERY CAREFULLY and be sure to come with everything they require, including insurance, proof of home ownership and floorplan with emergency exits and equipment clearly shown.
