Proposal to Co-Host and Live in a Room (Negotiable Terms)

Hi there,

My name is Filippo, and I am a full-time PhD student at the University of Melbourne. I also do tutoring in my free time, which allows me to be flexible and dependable. I am looking for a unique arrangement where I could live in one of the rooms of an Airbnb property in Melbourne in exchange for helping manage the listing.

I suffer from eczema, so I would prefer a bedroom with floorboards, as this would be more comfortable for me. I’m looking for something relatively close to Parkville, ideally within 7 km.

I’m happy to assist with guest communication, cleaning, and overall management of the property to ensure everything runs smoothly. I’m open to negotiating terms to make this mutually beneficial, so please feel free to reach out if you’re interested or have any questions!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Best regards,

Filippo

I can see why this arrangement would work for you but it has little advantage for a host @Filippo571

1. a host will make far more money letting a whole house rather than rooms in a home

2 you have no experience as a host so wouldn't know how to optimise a listing

3. the host would lose the use of the room you want to stay in (presumably for free)

if you want to become a host find a rental property and get agreement from the landlord to airbnb a second bedroom.

Hello Helen, thank you for your reply. Well, in Melbourne if you don’t live in the property you are listing you cannot rent the place for more than 180 nights. I agree with you though, my only fear is that the landlord will not agree to let me sublet the other room on the platform. Anyways, I will try both ways! Thanks again 🙂
