Simple fee system

How about you display our set nightly rates and then show what Airbnb is charging on top instead of making it look like we're asking for 15.5% over market price of a room?

@Peter775 If the price including Airbnb's service charge is 15.5% over the market price for a room then the host (you) are the issue not Airbnb. You would not even consider setting a market price for a room and then adding cleaning and heating on top would you? Airbnb provide a service just like cleaners do and deserve to be remunerated for said service. ALL these fees need to be encompassed within the room rate the guest pays.

Here's a start for you to think about:

First subtract the fees that Aibnb is now eliminating:

15% from the guest

3% from the host. 

18% Gone. Adios. 

NOW:

15.5% to the host 

End of story. 

Now, add 15.5% to your price. How different is the price now from what it was before?

Airbnb is the largest player in the short-term rental market @Peter775 , which means to a large extent it sets the market price. This price has always included its own service fees.

Previously, the Airbnb service fees were collected using a split fee structure. The average of those percentages (because there were some complicated variations) have now been rolled into the equivalent single fee.

The service fee is still included in the market price and it's virtually the same as before. But the internal structure used to calculate it, has been simplified.
