Hello,
So my partner and I rent a flat in Brussels and we have an agreement with our landlord that we can do short term airbnb hosting when we are away. We did this last summer (2021) with gross earnings not-above 2,500 euros. We learned that we would have to possibly declare this income but find that our situation is quite bizarre somehow and we are looking for guidance.
We are also wondering if we could do this again this summer.
Any answers or guidance would be much appreciated.
Best
Zachary
@Zachary176 the principles are surely simple. The USA taxes its citizens on their worldwide income. Belgium presumably also taxes you on income earned there. I haven't checked but assume that there is a dual tax agreement between the two countries so you won't pay tax in both unless the US tax rate is higher than the Belgian which is unlikely.
Why don't you speak to your accountant they are best placed to advise on dual taxation issues @Zachary176
