War-like Situation โ€“ Need Advice from Fellow Hosts ๐Ÿ™

Dear Airbnb Community,

Due to the current war-like situation between India and Pakistan, travel has become very difficult. Many flights and trains are delayed or canceled, and guests are canceling their bookings last minute. This is creating a tough time for both hosts and travelers.

Every day feels more uncertain.

๐Ÿค I truly need your thoughts:

What steps are you taking during this crisis?

Any advice for handling cancellations, refunds, or guest concerns?

How do we protect ourselves and still support our guests?

Please share your opinions, experiences, or suggestions in the comments. Your words might help another host whoโ€™s feeling lost right now.

Thank you so much

Hello @Elegant-Homes-Retreat0, I hope you and your family are safe and well. I wanted to share information about our Major Disruptive Events Policy which might be helpful to you in this current situation.

How does the Major Disruptive Events Policy work?

You can learn more about the Major Disruptive Events policy here. When a reservation qualifies:

  • Hosts can cancel a reservation without fees or other adverse consequences. Your listingโ€™s calendar will be blocked for the dates you cancel.
  • Guests can cancel a reservation and receive a refund regardless of your cancellation policy. Your listingโ€™s calendar will remain open if the reservation is canceled by the guest.
  • You do not receive a payout when a reservation is canceled by you or your guest.
  • You or your guest can cancel the reservation even if the guest has already checked in. The guest will receive a refund and you wonโ€™t receive a payout for the remaining nights.

I hope this helps.

Hi @Quincy,

Thank you for your message and for sharing the information about the Major Disruptive Events Policy. It was very helpful.

The situation is now under control, and weโ€™re all back to work. However, we did experience some loss in bookings during the disruption.

Thanks again for your support.

Best regards,
@Elegant-Homes-Retreat0
