Introduction
This PRD outlines the proposed enhancement to the Airbnb "Trips" section, introducing a new feature that overlays a geographical world map with color-coded representations of users' past travels. The enhancement aims to gamify the travel experience, making it more engaging and fun, while also driving additional rentals and revenue for Airbnb.
Purpose
- To provide a visually engaging and interactive way for life-long travelers to view their travel history.

Scope
The scope includes the design, development, and integration of the world map overlay feature within the existing Airbnb "Trips" section.

Proposed UX Design Concept
Functional Requirements:
- World Map Overlay:
- A world map should be integrated into the "Trips" section, displaying users' past Airbnb locations.
- The map should be interactive, allowing users to zoom in/out and pan across different regions.
- Color Coding:
- Locations where the user has stayed in an Airbnb should be color-coded based on frequency of visits (e.g., light to dark shades).
- Destinations without Airbnb stays should be marked in gray.
- Interactivity:
- Hovering over a pin would display a tooltip with a summary of the stay (e.g., "Boston - Hosted by Boris & Susan - Sep 6–12, 2021").
- Clicking on a pin would expand to show detailed information, including pictures from the stay and options to rebook or share the trip.
- Data Integration:
- The feature should automatically pull data from users' booking histories to populate the map.
- The map should update in real-time with each new booking.
- Gamification Elements:
- The feature should include elements like badges, milestones, and challenges to incentivize users to explore new destinations.
- Users should be able to share their map and achievements on social media platforms.
- Cal to action:
- The map should provide a primary call to action which encourages the user to book a new trip.
