I joined Air bnb a couple months ago, and have booked over half a dozen rooms with no issues using a prepaid Bluebird American Express card from walmart. Every booking was made with a new card, as I would buy them just for that, and I don't have a regular credit card. Every time, I would remove the past cards as payment methods before adding the new one.
This worked until two nights ago, when the site started asking for billing info. I put my address but of course that didn't work because it was a temporary card with no billing info on it. The card was declined. I called customer service, and the only solution they came up with was to use the address of Bluebird's main office? The closest address I could find on google was the American Express office in New York and that didn't work either. The representative told me that Air bnb is supposed to accept prepaid credit cards, but didn't seem to have any experience for this situation.
This sucks. I don't have any other ways to pay for air bnb right now, and I can't afford hotels. Do you think it started asking for billing info because me adding so many different cards raised some red flags? Somebody must have had the same thing happen to them! Thanks in advance.
