City of Los Angeles, restrictions

Here is the most coherent information I have found about the new ordinance in Los Angeles, going into effect July 1, 2019.

Today via email I recieved from bob.duenas@lacity.org a link to the June 13, 2019 Draft Administrative Guidelines . Just starting to review now.

I wanted to share the link but apparently this forum does not allow links ? even Https ?
Please email planning.home-sharing@lacity.org and ask for a link to this Draft and ask to be updated about any updates so we can be prepared for the June 18 PLUM meeting at city hall

Anything with rso properties like duplexes and triplexes??

Airbnb is definitely doing a grassroots approach - and we hosts need all the help we can get! Be in a he lookout for the next PLUM meeting in about 60 days- this will determine the fate of all of our abilities to host in LA. If you want to ge plugged in, join the LA Airbnb Hosts FB group.

Hi Peter:

I've read articles that state they're attempting to make amendments to the RSO ordinance and vacation rentals. I live in an RSO area. I believe most of LA does. 85% of my guests are international here on holiday - not LA residents. Do you have any updates about whether the RSO amendment is in the works? I don't want to panic. Airbnb will lose a lot of customers if this is finalized because most of LA was built before 1978. Thanks. Tom

Please let me know if you have news. I’m in your same boat. This is awful!!!

Would love to get more information as July 1st is coming up soon!

Same!!! I don’t understand why air bnb has not contacted us and they say they don’t have info. So does that mean it’s not in effect?

Go to http://planning.lacity.org/

Permit application form is up starting today, getting the permit is due October per website.

"Hosts are now able to register for Home-Sharing in the City of Los Angeles.
Hosts who are currently operating will have until October 31, 2019, to register before the City would begin enforcement. Hosts can register at any time during the July 1 to October 31, 2019 period."

Does anyone know whether a confirmed reservation for December will be honored if I do not get approved for license?

thanks

Hi folks, just reviewed the Airbnb email and then the LA City site. Probably a question for Airbnb customer service here but if our listing no longer qualifies, what next? Do we need to be shutting down our Airbnb and doing mass cancellations?

I'm thinking along the lines of, if we are in situations that do not allow us to qualify to Airbnb our place per how the ordinance is written so far, it would be prudent to cut off all stays on Nov 1 forward.  Nov 1 is when the code will be enforced.

I've read articles that state they're attempting to amend the RSO in order to allow people in those areas to keep hosting. I'm hopeful. Have you heard anything? Thanks.

Hey guys!  Chiming in here!

Please support LA Airbnb Hosts for Fair Regulations on Facebook.   A lot of members have been connecting and trying to advocate to fight back this ordinance.

AIRBNB is truly a terrible company, but most of you know this.........Check this out!!!   ( people from Thailand are going to be in Los Angeles (by UCLA)  for 3 weeks in november and I almost got them, but some scam apartment Host has them and they will not be permitted and they used fake pics!!  I tried to tell Airbnb this and they basically said its up to the traveler..........So 9 people coming half-way around the world are going to have a disastrous trip and Airbnb does not have the courtesy to warn them.....I did, but I am dealing with people who do not understand whats going on in LOS ANGELES.........Any thoughts? Am I wrong trying to protect travelers who i know that are going to be screwed??  I guess I will report the building to both the owner and a city inspector and see what happens........If people are HOSTS that are in apartment buildings, YOU CANNOT DO THIS!  THIS IS WHY THE CITY IS HAVING PROBLEMS!!  YOU ARE NOT A SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENCE!!1   STOP TRYING TO CHEAT PEOPLE AND RUIN THEIR TRIPS!! HAVE SOME COMMON DECENCY, CAUSE YOU WILL GET CAUGHT AND RUIN SOMEBODY'S  VACATION!!     ALL REPLIES ARE WELCOME....
