Please assist .

the guest I have hosted this week caused major damage of over R8000 by driving into our secure gate and wall twice. 

We suspect he was intoxicated.

he accept responsibility and agreed to cover the damages, but has now disappeared of his phone and I can’t get hold of him.

 

what is the next step?

Very sorry to hear about this.

I believe you should report the damages to Airbnb immediately.    Has the guest checked out,   and/or are you able to access the Resolution Center?

I would document the problem as much as possible (photos,  other evidence) and be prepared to write the entire situation up to present to Airbnb.  Please note that this can be very difficult, and you need to report before any other guest checks in etc.  

I presume you did not get ID or file a police report?  (The latter may be advisable as well).

take pictures , get quotations  and lodge a claim with Airbnb very fast before your next guest checks in. I have heard that the process is long and you may not get any compensation but give it a try.

also make sure you mark down that guest and write a review that will warn all  other hosts about this guest.

Another suggestion:  post in the Host's forum, not here-- you'll get many more hosts looking there.   Hope this is progressing as well as it can under the circumstances.

I have been speaking to an agent, I did use the resolution centre yet no feedback from the guest. He admitted the damage on Airbnb messages, but now claim not to have any money to cover the cost. I am stuck with this damage.

this guest was given good reviews on Airbnb, yet he was highly intoxicated - suspecting drugs at the time of the incident.

i don’t know how to proceed from here.
