I just received a letter from the city of Elk Grove, California(where we live). saying that we are in violation of the city ordinance because we are renting with Airbnb. Should I get a license? Do all Airbnb hosts need one? t is not cheap!!
It would help me a lot if someone could advise me, please. Thank you.
@Yves561 this question is specific to your locality, but if your city says Airbnb rentals are in violation of city ordinance then you can probably trust that they are. In your shoes I would contact the department that sent you the letter to find out what your options are, and/or get legal advice.
Airbnb doesn't manage this for you. The terms of service you're operating under specify that it is your responsibility alone to ensure that your operation is legal.
