Extra guests that are not on the reservation

Lately I have been getting guests who book for one person and end up showing up with more than one person. When I try to change the amount of people on the reservation it will not allow me because the reservation is already current. The only way to do it is by calling Airbnb and even then it is a hassle to get them to change it. They always suggest to just ask for the fees from the guest but according to Airbnb insurance policy if the guest is not on the reservation it will not cover them. What is the point of having that feature if you cannot use it after the reservation has already started. Either way the guest has to approve the changes.
