Extra nights

A guest checked out after their one night stay, all fine. Then said that their next Airbnb place had let them down, they couldn't find anywhere else to stay, could we put them up another night, on the floor if necessary (I think they knew we had another guest coming that same day, we only have one guest room). I said sorry, we had another guest coming, so no. But it seems a rather unlikely tale, or maybe I'm just a suspicious person. Were they just looking for a free night? Has anyone else had this?

Edinburgh Festival maybe?  Could be genuine.

I have put up a guest in my office/ aka big cupboard on a camp bed one time as they made a hiccup with train bookings.

I think you right to say no @Jackie454  I would have referred them back to Airbnb if the host let them down Airbnb should have been helping them find an alternative.
