Scam alert! How can I make sure a listing is real?

This will be my first time using Airbnb so I'm a bit weary about listings being fake.

What can I do to make sure a listing is real and not a scam?

What should I be looking out for?

Thanks

Welcome to Airbnb!

Here are a few things you can do to make sure the listing is real:

(1) Look at the reviews and make sure they seem to talk about the same place you are booking

(2) If the listing says anything about contacting the host outside of Airbnb before booking, DO NOT - this is a well-known scam.

(3) Look at the listing - if it seems "too good to be true" (aka luxurious penthouse for a super low rate) it probably is!

You can also post the link here and we can weigh in on our thoughts.

Hi I am looking at this air bnb user who’s renting out his private room for 1 month. It looks decent not over the top and it’s only around $499. Im

worried that he’s a scammer? Would be great if  could look at this link and let me know!

Hi All,
Old forum, I know, but any thoughts on the legitimacy of this listing? My initial thoughts are that it's too good to be true! Beautiful place, not horrendously expensive, very few details and no reviews, with a a suspect profile/host picture!
Many thanks,

Annie

How can check if it's not fake Airbnb? I have installed the app and also using the web at the same time.

What rules I have to assure?

Thanks

Hi @Cynthia-and-Chris1, I'm having the same issues.  This guy is supposedly renting his place through Airbnb and he says that everything should be done through Airbnb for safety.  He just shared this link through email:

https://www.airbnb.mx/rooms/2878128

When I tried to access the Airbnb logo, it doesn't take you anywhere.  If you tried to see any of the people who already stayed in this place, you cannot see any of the profiles.  Finally, if you tried to access any of the links on the bottom of the page they don't work. I tried to look for this listing on the regular desktop version and app and is not there. I also tried using these parts of the link on your website www.airbnb.mx/rooms/ and the listing number 2878128 and your page the only thing it does is to take me to your homepage.

Can you guys verify if this link or posting is real?

Thanks,

Fernando

Hello I see a great number of listings like below that say

(Check this out)!! IMPORTANT !!DO NOT 🅑🅞🅞🅚 , ask about availability dates with my 🅒🅞🅗🅞🅢🅣 that take care of this listing.Any booking made without asking about dates will be cancelled!

Does this mean it’s fake?

It’s a real listing @Dawn655  the link you provided takes you to the genuine Airbnb website.

Thank you. I’ve been emailing with them back and forth was nervous because the address was blurred on google maps

Deleted by poster.

@Graham371 It is really not difficult. If it is on the Airbnb website then 99.9% it is real. If it isn't then when you arrive and contact Airbnb to tell them it doesn't exist then the host will not be paid and will have gained nothing by the scam.

Do you have a particular concern with this listing?

Good day

My parents were sent the below link for a long term lease in Bristol. I cannot find the same directly through the App.

Do you think it's a scam/fake..?
