I set my nightly price and Airbnb are secretly increasing it by 3 euro - Anyone else?

I've just lowered my nightly weekday price to 59 euro, except when I preview it and pretend to book as a guest, it shows up as 62 euro, with a 20 euro service charge! I have no additional fees and have never experienced this before. Is this a glitch, or some sneaky Airbnb scam?

My listing is also showing up in dollars, instead of euros - and has done this for a couple of weeks now.. Has anyone else been experiencing this problem of it also showing the wrong currency?

Hi @Natalie725

Sometimes when you change your prices (under your "edit listing" tab), all of the prices do not change on the calendar. I have no idea why that is, but you're best to go into your calendar and look for nights that have not changed to your new price, and change them manually on the calendar when you find them.

As for the pricing showing up as the incorrect currency, I'm not sure about that, as it's never happened to me. Are you using an incognito search when you double check? Maybe that's why? The app may convert to dollars when you aren't logged in with your currency preference intact...doesn't make a lot of sense though, if you are searching from Ireland, though...Hopefully someone else will come along and know what's up with the currency thing.

Thanks for your help. I'm not sure what's going on about currency, I am searching normally and logged into my account. I think it will be hard for others to test, as I assume it will always show up in their own currency. I just messaged Airbnb live chat about it all anyway... and should probably hear back sometime early 2024 - so I shall keep you updated lol.

Just to let you know, @Natalie725 your price comes up as $80 Canadian dollars for me, which, I think, is around 55 Euros. But, if I pick a random night (I chose the 20th of Jan) the price populates as $124, plus $16 for Airbnb's service fee, for a grand total of $140 CAD...somewhere around 96 Euros total.

You often have to log out and even clear your cache. I would more likely attribute to a glitch and not some nefarious conspiracy.

It's the deliberate obfuscation and complete lack of transparency in Airbnb's pricing structure that's the problem, @Juan63  The price a host sets, should be the price that's charged. Period. And if, for some reason, there's a discrepancy of even a single cent, then a clear and credibile explanation of the differential must be offered, both for the consumer (guest) and the service provider (host) Companies don't just get to tack on whatever they want, wherever they want, without having to provide clarity. There are laws against that sort of practice, and for very good reason.

As can clearly be seen from the thousands of posts on this forum alone, there are countless ongoing, long-term, known issues plaguing host accounts and causing serious financial irregularities on this platform - many of which have been recurring over and over again for most of the past decade, and none of which can be solved by simply logging out or clearing caches.

For Airbnb - a $38 billion TECH company - to still be attempting to pass off all these unfixed, unsolved, ongoing financial irregularities as "glitches" - after all these years - defies all sense of logic, reason and credibility.

I just noticed a $71 service fee on top of what I charge for my accommodations I don’t charge for cleaning or anything extra there’s also a $47 charge for taxes which could be in Montana they collect 8% bad tax

I have found now on two occasions when I have had long stay guest - (10 days) the price they have paid bears no relation to what my listing says, so my euphoria at along stay guest is VERY short lied.

SO my lowest rate is £75 per night, as I am now on smart pricing from £75 to £150.

Previously when I was not on smart pricing it was fixed price of £85 per night.

On the two long stay occasions the price dropped dramatically, from £75 or £85 to £51 per night.

Frankly I am very confused and for a large detached two double bedroom cottage that I pay my cleaner a minimum of £40 to clean, it makes the long stay ones not as good as they initially seemed.

What am I missing or doing wrong. I keep checking my pricing structure, and just cannot fathom how this pricing structure is happening???

Do you have weekly or monthly discounts enabled?

I think it’s an Airbnb scam they are getting bold these days and the guest is getting ripped off. Did you notice Airbnb is constantly letting you know that is you lower your price you will get a lot more bookings. This is ballocks for sure

See my post on https://community.withairbnb.com/t5/Help/Base-rate-and-custom-rate-the-Air-BnB-software-is-confused/...

What I eventually worked out is that there is no such thing as a "base rate."  When you open the calendar the base rate is automatically changed to a "custom rate" for those dates.  If you subsequently change the  base rate you should close the whole calendar and open it again to effect the changes that you thought you had made.
