Sailboat & RV

I'm a new host in Duluth, Minnesota. Been loving it! Meeting new people. Sharing location I love. Offering affordable and fun options to travelers. Some want novelty of sleeping on a sailboat. Others want convenience and comfort of RV. I can only sleep one place. Occasionally I rent both. I tried researching local ordinances and discovered news articles from about controversy a year ago. So I made two listings. Now I have been told NEW ORDINANCE forbids boats and RVs and I have to take down listings. I have guests coming through August! What can or should I do? I've had friends stay in the past. I don't want to miss out on "new friends", guests, and income. I'm very distressed about this.

Hello Marie - I had a similar situation.  In February of this year I called the code enforcement office in the little town I live in to ask what type of license I would need to join Airbnb. I was told I did not need a license unless I had 5 or more rooms (I only have 2).  A couple of weeks ago I attended a county commissioner meeting to complain about a road project and two days later the code enforcement officer called saying I needed both a business license and a tourist license.  Go figure right?

If I were you I would call either the local city or county government for advice.  I can't imagine what the reason would be for them not letting you rent out your boat and RV short of having the right type of insurance.  Best regards, Roger

Maybe you don't need an inspection and permit?  I need answers too.
