Guest arrives with extra person after paying for a single occupation.

How can I be paid for the extra guest who comes without having booked and paid in advance.   This is happening more and more.   I even had one couple ask for accomodation for two more friends and they refused to pay.

Don't let them in, @Trish16. You are well within your rights. Only booked guests can check in.

Thank you Lynne.   However that would result in a negative recommendation.  Is there no way Airbnb will offer a solution?   There should be a way to ask them to turn to the guest and demand payment.  Or maybe a notice that misquoting the number of guests in a booking will result in a fine - say double the discrepency.

@Trish16    If you charge for extra guests, and you don't want to turn them away,  as soon as they arrive tell them they need to send you an alteration request for the extra guests (or you send them one to accept) IN ORDER to check them in, the subtext being no alteration request for extra guests  = no check-in either.  You could also add the extra guest thing to your messages to them before the fact.
