booking refund

Dear Airbnb customer service,

 

We booked a house through Airbnb confirmation code** for arrival of 1st of September 2019 for one night. On 31st of August in the evening we received a message from Mrs** (the owner) that there were wasps in the house. As one of us happened to be allergic to wasps we mentioned our concern to her which resulted in a possibility to cancel our stay. So we did cancel our stay at her home.

The sum of € 241 was already transferred back to us. According to Mrs** she corresponded with you regarding this. She is agreeable that we should receive the full amount of € 289,02 which should come from you.

hello @Bing17 and welcome to CC.

This is a forum for all ABB Hosts and Guests.

It's very thoughtful and considerate that your Host advised you about the wasps and that you cancelled and received a refund, it will be minus a fee which is why it's less.

In future it may be an idea if an unusual situation arises that you ask to change your booking for another date rather than cancel.

Maybe one day you can book with the Host and stay to make up for your cancellation as she sounds like a nice Host.

FYI we did not intend to cancel the reservation. We were on our way to go there when we received their message about the wasps. What would you do if one of us happened to be allergic to wasps??? We asked them if they have an alternative for which they answered that they did not. We had to quickly find another place to stay which cost more than the budget we had. Also the host has been advised by Airbnb that we would be reimbursed the full amount. In all fairness we therefore asked you to give our € 48.02 back.

@Sarah977 Thank you for the information. I was informed about this place by my host.
Now, I already have a reaction from Airbnb support.

@Bing17 The big problem here is that the host asked YOU to cancel. The host should have cancelled from her side and you would have received a full refund automatically. Call airbnb or write to airbnb via the reservation. There is a help button there where you can contact airbnb directly. They can read the communication you had with your host and make sure you get the fees back.
