Hi!
I booked a home in Greece for this Summer 1 month ago. I received a call from the host who said that due to her dual citizenship in the US and Greece per Air BNBs new policy starting April 2019 that she will be taxed at a very high rate. She states that she has a program with Bank of America to draw up a different rental agreement though another site. She wants me to cancel my reservation and indicates if I get charged (which I will for the service fees) she will reimburse me on arrival. Her properties are well reviewed and she has been great at communicating and helping thus far. However this sounds like a complete scam. I have paid taxes outside of air bnb before in Nashville when there was a change after we had booked. Other bookings had mentioned air bnb had no way to include this specific city tax at the time so I was able to confirm this. Does anyone have any information?
