6% sales tax in PA and 3% occupancy tax in Huntingdon County, PA

We started hosting in September, 2016.  I was under the impression that any sales tax and occupancy tax we had to collect on our own.  I have had a guest email me that AirBNB is collecting 6% occupancy tax.  I have not seen any tax collected or paid on our behalf by AirBNB.  The only item I have seen is the $4.00 service fee per day from the rental amount.  Our sales tax in PA is 6% and the occupancy tax is 3%.   Can anyone help me understand about the taxes preferably someone in Huntingdon County, PA?

Typically Airbnb collects all sales taxes and many occupancy taxes.  You do not see it as a host because Airbnb pays it for you (occupancy taxes are not collected everywhere so some people must collect and pay this on their own https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/653/in-what-areas-is-occupancy-tax-collection-and-remittance-by-...).

As your guest pointed out, it is on their bill, they pay the sales and occupancy taxes when applicable, Airbnb collects those funds and pays it to the various municipalities and states directly.

You have to pay INCOME taxes on the monies you receive from Airbnb.
