A few questions about the "Thumbs up" feature here in the CC

Clicking on the list/number of people that gave thumbs up to any given post leads me to a few questions about it: so each post with thumbs up shows by default all the peeps who gave a thumbs by the "date gave thumbs up" - easy to understand. But beyond that, one can click on "User ID" and "Thumbs up"  - and I don't see any valuable info when clicking on either of those. (i'm on the app, have not checked what it shows when on desktop.) So what's up with that?
I also saw that when checking on who gave thumbs up on a post, "all users" comes up by default - but then there is the choice "expert users" . Lately I have clicked on that quite a bit, curious to see who the experts are, but never ever have I seen any expert user as getting identified. That amuses me a bit and makes me wonder: does that mean expert users are never here in the forums, or they never give thumbs up to any post? Surprised me a bit....
I also wonder about that mysterious count about who leads in the overall count of thumbs up, shown at the bottom: that count can go up or down drastically from one day to the next. What gets counted, and when? and when does it drop off? Would be interesting to know.
In general, I certainly could do without that "thumbs up" count at the bottom of the page: it's another thing, not unlike the super host badge, that some contributors might strive for and see as a competition. Thus they expect or ask to get a thumbs up for a post or even withhold a thumbs up - just saying..... so why not just take off the count at the bottom of the page? That would take the competitive edge away - and I advocate that as the person right now on top of the count. I am just interested in seeing which posts are the popular ones, not who gets the most thumbs up.

@Annette33:

Wondered the same things myself. What do I have to do to bump you out of that top spot on the side of the homepage????

@Tim-and-Holly0 ,it sure helps to have too much time on your hands ....

Hello @Annette33 and @Tim-and-Holly0,

Thanks for checking about this.

In terms of the 'top contributors' section, this is currently based on the amount of thumbs up received over a rolling month period. So the reason it fluctuates is because it updates on a daily basis.

Good spot on the 'Expert' tab in the 'thumbs up' section. This is actually a tab we don't use, you will see on all posts that have received 'thumbs up' that no-one is in this section, even the Community Team don't go in there. It is part of the platform the Community Center is built on, so there isn't any real mystery around this. Sorry this isn't more exciting! 🙂 Do you think there is anything in this section you would like to add?

In terms of you last point Annette regarding the 'thumbs up' count, are you referring to the 'Top Contributors' list? If so it is interesting to hear your thoughts on this. Is there another way you would like this to be presented or something similar in general in the CC that you think might work well?

Thanks again for starting this conversation.

Speak to you soon.

Lizzie
