A guest snuck in a dog into my pet-free non-allergenic home, what do I do now?

No pets are allowed in my home. They snuck one in and I didn't see it until they left. What can I do now?

@Bernadette82  You don't mention what type of pet and how you know this happened, but you need to ensure that the pet impact is totally cleaned out.  Also, communicate to the guest the evidence you have for the pet's presence if you are seeking any damage claim.  If there is no damage, except maybe some extra cleaning, you need to include the rule breaking in your thumbs down review of the guest.  Good luck!!

Ok thank you. My sons (11yrs & 17) saw them with a poodle on a leash heading toward the house from their car. However, they forgot to tell me yesterday. I never saw them so I didn't know if I could do anything. I was wondering why it smelt like perfuem when I went in there to talk to them. Didn't think anything of it tho. Not a peep from the dog either. There isn't any damage but I took pride in it being dander free. Even if poodles are non-allergenic, they still leave their dander which I am still allergic to. But that's all. The room was left in great condition also.

You COULD try to file a claim for cleaning, but it's as likely to get stuck in Airbnb resolution hell and cause a lot time wasted.

Your biggest power is in your review. I wouldn't raise the issue with the guests, but just leave them a scathing review. Mark them one star on house rules and communication and give them the thumbs down. This will prevent them from being able to InstantBook in the future, and help other hosts avoid them.

"While they left the space in good shape, I can not recommend -guests-. They snuck a dog into my allergen-free, pet-free home with no notice and in violation of my house rules. Home sharing relies on trust. I would not let these people back into my home and I recommend others avoid hosting them.
