Airbnb not being fair! Giving 50% discount on service fee to certain host out there!

Just found out that some of the listing in my neighbor hood have a 50% discount on Airbnb service charge. Called Airbnb and asked about the promotion, seems like they don’t want to reveal this issue, just saying that they randomly choose and I will be receive an email soon. I think it’s not fair to other host out there

@Bryce--RentRadise-0 Many things are not fair on Airbnb.

That's sad Marzena 😞

Sometimes one is best served by focusing what good is happening for you and mentally by-pass what someone else is getting or making.

Then again, I am the childlike grateful type, as long as my glass is more than half full, I am happy. 😄

Yes, you are right Fred, just want to raise the concern, because it's not fair to other host who are working hard out there, their nightly price will be higher, surely will affect the booking rate under such competitive environment.

Okay, @Bryce--RentRadise-0, I learned a little about it, and I think you have nothing to worry about. It is not a case of fairness.

I was surprised to see "50% off the service fee: Select a check-in date to find out when Lawrene's place is discounted," just now when I looked at my listing.

What?

So I selected a check-in date.

Lo and behold, the only dates that are discounted are the dates (Mar 16 and 17) a guest cancelled today. So it looks like we get a bit of help now when a guest cancels.

It is not strange that you were not given a direct answer when you called. These things roll out and CS and the hosts are the last to know. But that's what it looks like here. Next time someone cancels, take a look at your listing and see whether guests are being offered that 50% off for those dates.

Your poor neighbour was probably experiencing cancellations.

@Lawrene0 Thank you SO much for this information, @Lawrene0; I just noticed my neighbor had this service fee discount on his listing and wondered what the deal was; I do recall now that Airbnb was going to try and help us out if we got a cancellation. That is nice to know.

@Lawrene0  - I can confirm.  I just had a cancellation for this weekend and now see that Airbnb is offering 50% off their fee.  I think this is awesome and really appreciate it.  Since I have free cancellation, I'm just out the potential income, so I'm hoping this might help me re-book.
