As a full time host, where do you stay?

I think this would be an interesting discussion..

If your home is a full time rental, and it gets rented out, where do you go?

I bet there are a lot of colorful answers and could make for a fun discussion or friendly competition.

@Angel205,

I stay in the house next door, which i also own.... :>)

And if that one is also rented out, i stay in another house next door, which i also own :>)

But if that one is also rented out, i have to sleep in the park or under a bridge.

best regards,

Emiel

I feel like we are playing two lies and a truth. haha.

I guess I had hoped there would be an interesting list, but I bet a lot of us can't bring ourselves to admit some of the worst and embarassing places. theres still some pride in us. 😉

@Angel205 I can't imagine renting out my entire house and going to stay elsewhere.

I once hosted guests who told me a story...

They had rented an apartment and on their first night staying there, they were hearing noises in the wall. They thought there was a mouse...

When they reached out to their host to let him know...their mouse-sounds in the wall, turned into cell-phone sounds...

Long story short...their host was sleeping in a locked walk-in cupboard WITHIN the apartment!!! 😳

@Tracey207, I feel for those guests but that is a great story!

I never rent out my whose house.

However on peak season weekends, I do rent out my master bedroom for top $$.

I have a mattress flopped on the floor in a cubby hole in the basement.

I love it. It's cool and away from a full and busy house. I get to "checkout" of my own home.

Hi @Paul0 - I have a question as I was contemplating the logistics of renting my own bedroom which I have never done to date but may consider on occasion as the LA Rams stadium is built near my house and potentially interest and $ increases. How do you manage for your personal belongings? I presume you don't want to remove everything just for a short term stay?

Currently in my home I Airbnb my guest bedroom and lock my bedroom every time I leave. Thank you

Airbnb has a toggle (loosely worded) "is this a bedroom solely for guests or usually used by host?"

I leave the two top drawers of my dresser and night stand empty.

Also, I leave all surfaces free.

Take out all cash, of course.

I have half the big closet free.

It takes me about 10 minutes to do these changes, now that I am accostumed to it.

I used to stay at friends but ended up buying an apartment a few minutes walk awsy.

This is the apartment

In LA we wish this was affordable, so many of us would play the two listings off each other. Unfortunately even an apartment would be 500K.

I stay with my mom. But I'm not a guest in her house. I have to cook and clean while I'm there!

I have numerous friends with many kids that rent their whole house during our University’s football season for big bucks (FSU College town). The beach is an hour or so away and very cheap because it’s the “off season” for the coast , so they pack up and make a family memory for the weekend.
