Cancellation Policy - Moderate

Question: How does the cancellation policy  work?  I have selected the moderate policy.  My understanding of this was that if a guest cancels 5 days prior to check in date that they would be charged? I had a guest cancel monday for a wednesday booking.  I am I wrong in my understanding of the cancellation policy?

On that note, if my understanding is incorrect, would it be better to chose the strict policy...? If youhave the strict policy are you allowed to chose whether the customer gets charged? That is knid of what I take from the description, that you can make adjustments like "discounts" on the strict policy.

Any input would be appreciated.

@Christina238 It's 5 days after 3 PM for first night at 100% and any additional nights at 50% payout on a cancellation. I have a Strict that is 50% up until 7 days after 3 PM then it's a 100% payout. If you get a lot of bookings from the work collection you're better off with the Moderate, if not I would probably switch to Strict if you want more of a guarantee of some payment.

Sorry Letti, that still does not make sense to me...my apologies.  5 days after what? after 3pm? I still do not understand your explanation.  To me the cancellation terms mean if youve cancelled within 5 days of the booking there should be a fee, I am thinking this is not correct how Ive understood it.  I do not have many work bookings.

@Christina238  It means that on the 5th day before a reservation if they cancel before 3 PM they get a full refund, after 3 PM they get charged for the 1st full day and 50% for any remaining days of the booking.

I see, so in this instance, the booking as for today Wednesday and they cancelled yesterday.  So essentially I should be getting paid for one day and then the remaining days 50%.  Does AirBnB typically let you know what that will be? I only received cancellation notice no notice of any cancellation payout.

@Christina238  Click on your profile picture, then Transaction History. Go to the Upcoming Payouts tab and it will show you what they will be sending you on Thursday.

Okay great, I see it there.  I did not see that before, part of the reason I was so confused.

Thank you so much for all your help Letti!
