I recently had a guest book for a week which I offered a significant week long stay discount, then he abruptly canceled( for business reasons)after three days and was allowed to keep
the weekly rate breakdown for the three nights he stayed. I find that to be very unfair to the host as the weekly rate was for the week and he should have been billed at the regular nightly rate if he was only staying three days. I feel as if I've been scammed by the guest.
@Lynn254, I would send a request for money through the resolution centre. He may not pay you but you should review him accordingly (if you haven't done so already).
@Lynn254 Did he just alter his stay or cancel his booking after 3 days? If he canceled, he would not be able to get any refund.
Did Airbnb canceled for him and you agree to refund him the remaining days not stayed? Normally this is Airbnb normally does even though this breach the contract between you and the guest when the guest booked for 6 days. If this is the case, you could contact Airbnb about the adjustment.
Yes he just cancelled, no conversation or agreement on my end. I have a flexible cancellation policy, so I was actually ok with refunded him for the days not stayed. What I didn't think was fair was airbnb allowing him to keep the weekly breakdown price. Airbnb gave me a confusing answer saying the weekly breakdown would go away if the guest ended up staying less than the scheduled days, then later I was told that he was allowed to keep the reduced daily rate. It wasn't even financially that different, I just feel the policy is unfair and a cheap guest could make a habit of that sort of thing. I have since changed my weekly rate reduction.
