Communication

Just would like to say if you are a guest it's only polite to respond to a pre-booking question from the host

I had an equiry at 8am in the morning and I answered it at 9am as didnlt check my phone till then.

The booking was for that day! So I was bit anxious to see if it was going ahead but the woman never got back to me !

left me wondering for hours whether she still wanted the room.

Just please be polite and answer people back!  I'm not one to put negative comments on people's pages and I don;t think you can with pre-booking but if there was that option maybe people would respond better- just saying

In future perhaps consider leaving the room unblocked.....you have that option as a host for you.

When you accept an enquiry do NOT click on the option that makes you block your room.

If someone e,se instant books that room it’s a case of first dibs!

@Laura2199  I have had this happen a few times and it really annoys me too. We get everything setup, but then they blow us off without a "Hey we found somewhere." or anything. They just ghost. I did get a reply once the next day asking if they could still stay the other 2 nights they wanted as they were not happy where they were, I repied I am sorry NO! They couldn't instant book because it was sameday.

well, maybe if enough people have the same problem the airB&B may put a link to click on to comment on the person-

@Laura2199     An Inquiry is just that- they are only asking questions or feeling the host or the place out. They may have sent out Inquiries to 10 different hosts. Yes, it would be polite if they at least wrote back "Thank you for your time", but mostly, unless they go ahead and book, you won't hear anything back.

If you don't see that they've gone ahead and booked, I wouldn't bother wondering for hours if they're going to book. If you want to avoid these situations in the future, don't accept same day bookings.

thanks Sarah, I'm new at being a host but have been a guest and  have got back to people - only common courtesy 🙂
